The picture of waterfalls, or just water in general are my favorites. You have some of the best I've seen. There are 2 or 3, I'd love to know where they are. I'll get around to asking one day. These are just absolutely breathtaking!!!!!
Thank you so…
I feel FREE, I'm HOME!!! It smells good!!!! I love the smell of the woods, trees, dirt, even the rain smells better here!!! So much wildlife that's still free! There is something just alittle bit different to see everyday!!!!!!!! So beautiful, so clean!! It is so much easier to relax here!!!!!!!! This is truly God's country.
About Me:
I know this will come as a shock, but I LOVE THE SMOKIES!!! Our parents brought my brother & me here every summer for vacation. I grew up swimming in the streams, climbing over huge bolders, hiking through trails. Seeing all the bears, deer, etc. I never get tired of walking the same trails, or going to Cades Cove. I do alittle wood working, (or try to), I'm trying to learn how the Indians & our ancestors used the herbs & trees. How to grow them, etc. I'd love to help or maybe join some group/society to do with the preservation of the structures, growing the native plants,. etc. Keeping it the way it used to be. I'm also reading various books, to learn about my Cherokeee ancestors.

Hi Susan! That shot is of Midnight Hole, which is about a mile and a half or so up the Big Creek Trail. Big Creek is on the NC side of the park, you get there by going down I-40 towards Asheville, and getting off at the Waterville exit. Well, if you live on this side of it that is the way to go anyway
Of course other members of my family are more interested in geneology than I am. This branch of the Sutherland tree came from my grandfather who moved to East Tennessee from Canada, so it doesn't go that far back in Tennessee but my dad traced it all the way back to Scotland at one point.
My mom spends time with it and she says 'you go back a few generations and it is like everyone is realted to everyone' hehe
Susan, you can walk through any cemetery inside the park and take photos or talk, lol. Outside the park is ok too...if it's a public cemetery. Private ones would most likely need permission or to be kin somehow. Welcome to the site and the mountains.
