About Me:

When I was 8, my first hike in the Smokies was Abrams Falls, Cades Cove with my family. In 5th grade, my love of the outdoors flourished with a week long field trip to The Tremont Inst. Now 34, I continue to travel the trails on backpack adventures and day hikes learning more about the ecosystem, wildlife and history of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Mick and I joined the Great Smoky Mountains Hiking and Adventure Meet-Up Group this weekend to backpack a section of the Lakeshore trail to campsite 86. Trails: Old Settlers, Grapeyard Ridge, Baskins Creek, Roaring Fork Rd. to Cherokee Orchard.

Little River Trail, Camp #24

Date: January 24 and 25
Trail: The Little River Trail, 4.1 miles, runs out of Elkmont Campground with a steady 880 ft elevation gain up to campsite 24 and 30. The last time I was on this trail was in the summer when everything was lush and green.
