Welcome! I totally agree with you, I never want to see one when we're hiking! The last time we hiked,we saw a huge footprint, and every little sound I heard made me scared. I take part of that back, I mean I don't want to be way, way out on a trail! We've seen bear up at Elkmont on a trail, but we were pretty close to civilization. Keep that whistle handy!
