Here's my 2cents.... like a gun, it's only illegal if you get caught. And the only way your gonna get caught is if you have to use it. And if that's the case, then i'd rather explain and pay a fine as to WHY i had it in the first place then be wit...

Hey Erik...I just married my daughter & son-in-law this past may in G'Burg. They were looking at getting married in Greenbrier then decided to do it at their cabin instead. When we checked the permits for a wedding, I think it cost between 25-30.0...

Thinking outside the box, there is a pavilion you can rent and reserve in Greenbrier. You would be guaranteed a place out of the weather but still in the woods. Last time I rode back there it looked like a lot of improvements had been made. Just a...

Foothills Milling Company in Wears Valley is a nice place to eat.

It takes a special permit/license to conduct weddings in the Park, it being a commercial operation and all.

Yep thats Cataract. The wetter the weather the better the falls, in Summer its usually dry.
November 17
Hi Erik - I don't know where that particular falls is, but the Cataract Falls directly behind the park headquarters at Sugarlands might have similar attributes.

another wedding quesiton...

could you guys take a look at this webpage and see if you can figure out where the first set of pictures were taken. It mentions a waterfall right off of a parking area that they do pictures at which look really nice.Of course, they dont say exactly where it's at cause i guess they want you to use their photography services. it says on their page that this waterfall isnt located on any maps and it's a pretty popular area for weddings and photos. Any help would be great.

wedding planning help ?

Hey everyone. My uncle is coming here next september to get married and they asked me for some suggestions as far as places to go and things to do. His soon to be wife wants to be married outside with trees and mountains in the background. While i explained to her that there are plenty of places to do that, the weather here usually sucks every other day so better have a back-up plan. I had read on here at some point that you can married in either the primitive baptist church or the methodist chu… Continue

Baskin creek trail

I did Baskin Creek yesterday. I started out at the beginning of Roaring fork road and went to the other side and back again. It seemed coming back up that last climb was just killing me. So, am I in just that bad of shape or does anyone else think that this is a difficult trail as it's rated in the guidebook?

rain suit recommendations...

After getting caught in the rain last weekend, i'm in the market for a new rainsuit. I dont want to spend $200 for something that is going to spend most of the time in the pack, but i want something that is 100% waterproof and lightweight. I've looked at the frogg toggs pro suit which weighs in at only 17 ounces and is around $55 on cabels's.com but the reviews i'm seeing arent that great. Some have said they are easily torn and do not hold up well. Of course, i guess it depends on what they wer… Continue

I don't think that you could find a better group of people to hike or camp with than the folks on this site! I have learned a lot from them since I "signed on"--not to mention, they are a pretty nice bunch of folks! Welcome!!! E. :)

Eric, I wanted to tell you about North Face's Vindicator boot. They are mid lenght and light weight. They have a goretex lining and I liked them so much I went out and bought a second pair. I have hiked in mud, water, and snow and my feet stayed dry! They are around 120 dollars. I would suggest a hike on the A.T. from Davenport Gap to Max Patch..it is 15 miles.

Don't know if you saw it or not, I wrote a blog last night: "Notes From The Woods..." . In the blog I tested and reviewed a pair of boots and a water purifier.
